A Little Bit About Ben Zeller

Ben Zeller is the Victoria County Judge

Victoria County Judge Ben Zeller is an 8th-generation Texan whose deep roots in The Lone Star state date back to Stephen F. Austin’s “Old 300” settlers.

Ben graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Houston-Victoria with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and later earned an MBA from Texas A&M University-San Antonio. He worked in the financial sector for several years at Wells Fargo Bank and Texas Dow Employees Credit Union (TDECU). While working at TDECU as a Senior Loan Officer, Ben ran for Victoria County Judge and was elected in November of 2014 as one of the youngest County Judges in Texas.

Ben has been passionate about public policy since his teen years and is the past President of the County Judges and Commissioners Association of Texas. In 2018, The University of Houston – Victoria chose him as their Young Alumnus of the Year for outstanding professional accomplishments. That same year, he was also the recipient of Texas A&M University-San Antonio’s inaugural Distinguished Alumni Award based on professional accomplishments and reputation.

He has served on the boards of the Texas Association of Counties, Texas I-69 Alliance, Victoria Economic Development Corporation, and as an ex officio member of the Citizens Medical Center Board of Managers, among others. He earned an appointment from Governor Abbott to the Texas Task Force on Infectious Disease Preparedness & Response and is the 2024 Legislative Chair of the County Judges and Commissioners Association of Texas. He has previously served as President of the South Texas County Judges and Commissioners Association, as a mentor in Victoria’s public high schools, and as an elected member of the State Republican Executive Committee.

Ben and his wife Jamie, an emergency room nurse, have been married since 2008. They love spending time with their three young children, along with their rescue dog Daisy. Zeller enjoys hunting, golf, and outdoor recreation on his family’s ranch. They are active members of their local church in Victoria.

I was in fourth grade. I will never forget the conflict my father had when this happened. At the time he was a logistics officer, Capt. I believe, at the Pentagon. He had served two and half combat tours in Vietnam with the 101st Airborne Division. The halls of the pentagon were strangely quiet. He never said one way or the other as to whether we should have gone in the first place. He took the position that he followed a lawful order, that it wasn’t up to him to do anything but follow orders. He did question whether his sacrifice (and that of my mom) was justified as Vietnam folded immediately to North Vietnam.

Yes. Many were processed at Fort Chaffee in Fort Smith, Arkansas about 3 miles from my house, the same Fort Elvis Presley was in. It took thousands of employees and volunteers including english language teachers to complete that process for several months.

I feel now it was a wasted war and too many died for nothing. It went on too long. Some say it started because of rubber trees. Many Vietnamese are thankful to this day we helped them get out. We met a young man fishing awhile back and he told us his story of being on a boat about to sink and they just had clothes on their back no shoes. They were rescued and he thanked the veteran with us for fighting for their freedom. Very moving .

A finished work, an empty tomb, a risen Savior, and salvation for the world. He is risen indeed! Happy Easter!

“Then he said, “When I was with you before, I told you that everything written about me in the law of Moses and the prophets and in the Psalms must be fulfilled.” Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures. And he said, “Yes, it was written long ago that the Messiah would suffer and die and rise from the dead on the third day. It was also written that this message would be proclaimed in the authority of his name to all the nations, beginning in Jerusalem: ‘There is forgiveness of sins for all who repent.’ You are witnesses of all these things.”
